Dénia and its Blue Flag Beaches

Dénia is located on Spain’s Mediterranean Costa Blanca (White Coast). Along its coastline, there are six sandy beaches and one rocky cove that have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag certification. A Blue Flag beach is an internationally recognized eco-label given to beaches that meet strict criteria for water quality, environmental management, safety, and public services. You can check in the links the current conditions of each beach, including occupancy, wave height, water and air temperature, wind speed, UV index, and the presence of jellyfish, as well as the available services.

These beaches are marked on the map below. The first five are situated along Les Marines Road (Carretera Les Marines / CV-730), which connects Dénia to Les Deveses.

At walking distance from your apartment at Loreto 29-3 is Punta del Raset Beach (See below the description).

Punta del Raset Beach

Punta del Raset Beach is located in the northern part of the municipality of Dénia, near the port area and the yacht club. It features coarse reddish sand and clean, crystalline waters. This is the closest beach to your location at Loreto 29-3.

Getting to Punta del Raset Beach. Reaching Punta del Raset Beach is very easy, as it’s located just a short distance from the town center. If you’re staying at Loreto 29-3, the beach is about a 13-minute walk away. Simply head toward Constitution Square and take the castle tunnel (shadowy and cool), which leads you directly in the right direction. Other option is to take Carrer de Sant Narcis and Carrer Santissima Trinidad (12-minute walk).

While driving is an option, it’s not recommended due to limited traffic access and parking. However, there are both free and paid parking areas nearby if needed.

After enjoying the sun and sea at Punta del Raset Beach, take a relaxing stroll through the Baix la Mar neighborhood, one of Dénia’s most charming historic areas. With its vibrant array of restaurants, cafés, and shops, it’s the perfect place to unwind and soak in the local atmosphere.”

About Punta del Raset Beach. Punta del Raset Beach stretches for approximately 570 meters and has an average width of 75 meters. The natural dunes formed by the wind add notable scenic value to the landscape, creating a unique coastal environment.

The beach is kept in excellent condition, which has earned it both the Blue Flag certification and the SICTED quality seal (Spanish Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destinations). You can check the current beach conditions, including occupancy, wave height, water temperature, wind, air temperature, UV index, presence of jellyfish, and recent water quality analysis.

In terms of services, Punta del Raset is perfectly equipped to enjoy the beach safely. It has surveillance and lifeguard during the mid and high season, a beach bar ideal for grabbing a drink to beat the heat, public W.C., hammocks, umbrellas, water skates and a recreational floating platform where children will have a great time. It is an area adapted for people with reduced mobility and other types of functional diversity. You will find shade, decking and adapted walkways; the goal is to make Punta del Raset accessible for everyone.

Please note that during certain months of the year—mainly in autumn—Posidonia oceanica seaweed may accumulate along the seashore. This is a natural phenomenon and, for ecological reasons, the seaweed is not removed, as it helps prevent beach erosion and supports coastal biodiversity. Its presence also indicates that the water is exceptionally clean, as Posidonia only thrives in high-quality marine environments. However, some visitors may find the accumulation along the shore to be unpleasant.

Punta Negra Cove (Les Rotes)

Punta Negra Cove is a rocky inlet located in the Les Rotes area of Dénia. It is a Blue Flag beach since 2025. This cove stretches approximately 1,400 meters in length and about 20 meters in width. It is known for its crystal-clear waters and the striking contrast between the deep blue of the Mediterranean and the reddish-brown rocks that shape the landscape.

Punta Negra is renowned for its rocky platform, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling thanks to the water’s clarity and the opportunity to observe marine life, including fish, crabs, and seaweed. Due to the uneven rocky terrain, it is recommended to wear appropriate footwear for both walking and entering the water.

The cove does not have sports, leisure, or children’s facilities because of the rocky terrain’s slopes. Additionally, there are no nearby parking areas, as access to the beach is via a pedestrian walkway.
To reach the cove, visitors can take the L1 Bus line, with the “Restaurant. Mena” stop being a convenient option, or walk from the Les Rotes road.

To go scuba diving in this cove, which is part of the Marine Reserve of Cape Saint Anthony, you must request prior authorization from the Regional Office for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food, and Water of Alicante by calling 012 or +34 963 866 000.
